My parents always told us to call and let them know where we would be in case of emergency. Business owners called the office and let them know where they could be reached. How hard is it to find a payphone and........... Oh wait, they removed most all of the payphones... Gee, I wonder why? They were already there and working. One would think it would be more expensive to remove them. The infrastructure was already there, the parts were readily available and engineered to be fairly indestructible. (unlike consumer products but that's another post) And they were useful to those that didn't want to carry intrusive cell phones. When I started working in Field Service we were issued pagers. Worked great, we got paged and we called the office and got our work orders. Then my company started issuing cell phones and when the new wore off I started hating the things. I was reachable 24/7 and I absolutely hated it. If someone goes out and purchases a device that's notorious for bugging you and tracking you... why do they complain so much when they find out that they are being bugged and tracked with it? You bought the fucking thing! If you want to bug and track me I'm not going to help you do it... you will have to go threw the trouble of purchasing the bug/tracking device and planting it on me without my knowledge.... yourself. If in the future I find I have to have one I will pull the battery and get a pager to go along with it. |
