You will never be a 12yo any more, so forget that path.

Why do you think that you cannot be friend with a boy, you adult and him a child? Age, money, authority, power, knowledge are not an obstacle to friendship. Friendship are two souls sailing in the same direction, it i not an age thing.

And if you befriend a child, you'll have to deal with hearing his boring stories of what happened to him at school. And he will have to deal with your boring stories of what happened to you at work.

Or you will be sitting together, silently and watching a sunset.

And suddenly he will ask you to explain the stars to him. At that moment, do you want to be another clueless 12yo, or an adult that can teach him?
