In the landmark SCOTUS case Jacobellis v. Ohio, 378 U.S. 184 (1964), which made nudity and swearing allowable in general release films - among many other things - including the legalization of KP - until that was outlawed by New York v. Ferber, 458 U.S. 747 (1982), Stewart wrote in his famous dissent:

"I may not know legally what obscenity is, but I knw it when I see it."

Then again he was a moderate to liberal Republican appointed by General Ike in 1958. He was great on limiting government intrusion on Fourth Amendment matters.

See, for 20 years the Supreme Court made KP 100% legal...
