the best way to stop the nuns from hitting you is to behave! It was a concentration camp atmosphere. Behavior had nothing to do with it. I remember my first day in Catholic School. A nun was showing me around, and we were chatting. All of a sudden she hit me in the face. I said, "Why did you do that?" and she replied, "Stop trying to have the last word." Anyone who showed the slightest signs of not buying into the brainwashing was scapegoated as the Second Coming of Satan. I blame my mother the most for my experiences there. She totally bought into the Catholic nonsense, and was easily impressed by trappings, baubles, and stained glass windows. That's the way the world works. There's more people with shit for brains than there are with brains for brains. |
