That of course is another very good point. While children and young adults under 16/18 are "oppressed" because they are not allowed to indulge in sexual activity, at least they won't actually go to PRISON for it if they do. Actually if you really think about it it is not young people who are being directly oppressed at all, but instead it is entirely older people. If the older person is oppressed, though the younger one wanting to have a sexual relationship with him/her will nonetheless suffer the consequences of the older person's oppression, the younger person themselves are not actually oppressed at all. In some other instances though, young people are directly oppressed. For example, in this country while a young person will not be arrested if they have a sexual relationship, they WILL be arrested if they try and get into a pub underage. So it just depends on the particular illegal activity, but sexual activity most certainly is not one a young person under 16 can get into trouble for at all. |
