"a lot of times, people who are collecting CP also like to share the wealth with others, as a way of "giving back" to the community." A question is whether child pornography should be treated as wealth to be given back to community. But look at libel. If a newspaper writes an article with headlines: "Milo Yiannopoulos is gay!", then Milo can sue the newspaper for damages, and get compensation for his reputation - and that only if he is not gay. Truth is a defence for libel. Even if Milo successfully proves that he is straight and that the verbal writing to the opposite is wrong, he can only get financial damages, and that from the newspaper. Proof of libel does not give Milo Yiannopoulos any right to send police to homes of people who have received the newspapers by subscription or bought them from shops or paperboys, search the homes for newspapers, cuttings, photocopies or scanned files, and throw people in prison and sex offender registries for having possessed a libellous newspaper. If, however, the newspaper publishes a security camera still of Milo giving head to a young man, and after thousands of newspapers have been sold, someone recognizes the boy as a 17 year old who looked 20, every copy of the newspaper, every cutting, photocopy and scanned file will be child pornography, and all their possessors criminals. |
