Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet

Posted by Walt Whitman on 2017-February-22 22:10:09, Wednesday

Last night my son's Pack celebrated their Blue and Gold Banquet. It was a three hour boy gala complete with live animals, poetry, food, awards, speeches and ceremonies.

One strikingly absent feature was any mention of Lord Baden-Powell, the fearless boy lover who started the Boy Scouts of America. I've noticed his mention less and less at BSA functions even from when I was a scout many years ago. Perhaps it was his boldness in his love of boys that has forced the "righteous" ranks to sweep him to the fringe of BSA history. Yes, according to biographer Tim Jeal, Baden-Powell loved the boy’s life so much that one of his great joys was watching naked boys exercise, and he kept and treasured pictures of these boys all of his life.

In the Baden-Powell spirit (at least somewhat...all these boys are clothed), I took a few snapshots of some of the cute boys last night and am posting a link here. Forgive me for some of the images are of less quality than I'd have liked due to the zoom factor and, as you know, boys move continually and at great speed.
