...and yet they still throw addicts in prison for using/possessing drugs... Half measures will never fix the problem. I am strongly against the (ab)use of illegal drugs or even prescription drugs outside of their intended use, so don't get me wrong. The drug problem is HUGE but it is not the drugs but the dealers/addicts not the drugs themselves. Got to fix the problem properly or leave it well alone and deal with the consequences. Blame shifting and profiteering is not going to make the problem go away. How about 'New world order' type reasoning.... Anyone caught with illegal drugs, death sentence. Anyone caught selling drugs or even giving them away, death sentence. Anyone caught with an unregistered firearm, death sentence. Armed robbery (registered firearm or not) death sentence. All death sentences to be carried out immediately after being 'found guilty' not after many years in prison on death row or a 'hundred' appeals and all that good shit. (( Caught today, court tomorrow, shot the next day )) That should take care of quite a chunk of the 'problem' That unfortunately would mess with the HUGE business of profiteering off crime and prisoners in private 'for profit' prisons. Always more than one way to skin a cat I guess. :-( |
