In the meantime, I'll just say that I think Jerry most likely followed what I refer to as 'the heterosexual model of pederasty,' which consists of finding a cute boy and using the techniques of hetero dating on him - treats, invitations, a little coaxing, attempts to get to 'first base,' and so on. This is a very bad idea for boys in the compliance ages (ages where they are generally obliged to comply with adult wishes) because they will do things they don't really want to, perhaps many times, and feel very taken advantage of. The more intimate these things are, the more they will feel exploited. Of course, negative culture attitudes can amplify this factor, but I would argue that it is primary. But then I, unlike some people here, actually believe in the concept of intimacy, and don't see sex as an action that has the same emotional impact as shopping or buttering a bread slice. It may be very hard to re-sensitize some BLs to this concept that they have had to renounce for themselves in order to stay legal. But there was also a 70s social trend to be skeptical of intimacy, the 'free love' idea - 'if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with' - and this made a huge impact on the BL community. I was never a fan. |
