The original proposition tried to be very clear that the questions concerned "intrinsic" rights, and specifically excluded the legal issues. It obviously was not a perfect proposal; some have noted omitted specifications, such as that a "real" world was intended rather than a hypothetical and perfect one. Nor were ethnocentric and synchronic "moral" issues addressed. Some have noted that loving relationships are not mentioned, but these, while most know that I am absolutely supportive of love preceding sex, are not the subject of this inquiry. I have no axes to grind here, this was an honest attempt to promote discussion of the varying points of view that are found on this forum. These questions are not going to be resolved here and now, and probably will never see unanimity. But I am learning and profiting from the generally civil exchanges of views, positions, and arguments, and hopefully others are as well. Observer (Email) |
