I imagine the main reason is that, if they're going to bother going through the trouble of dressing up, why not make it sexy (as they see sexy)? Also, if they dressed like a "frumpy housewife" it's more difficult to hide their masculine traits. Finally, I think we have to be careful to separate what may be a deep-seated physiological identification with femininity from the psychic fantasy they may have built up in their minds over time. That they may have a mythologized view of femininity (perhaps generated by the media) doesn't automatically mean their deeper gender confusion is a lie. Consider this: I am 100% sure (or as close to 100% sure as one can be about anything like that) that pedophilia is full-blown hardwired sexual orientation, but even so there are still pedos who really do live up to some of the stereotypes (like the one which says they seek out kids because they cannot relate well to adults.) In other words, humans are complicated. |
