He then chooses the among all the pictures he has taken to choose the best - those which give the impressions that he wants. He then takes these, and crops them. But, I suppose you have studied photography, and know more than I about it? Perhaps. Perhaps not. I've read many books on the subject, as well as have taken many photographs. Which have been judged to have been good quality, by those who should know. And I have dozens of other books on the subject, that I hope some day to have the time to read. Are you a professional photographer, by chance? You speak as if you are familiar with the topic. Just asking...
