... and look through the background details before you can make statements with any degree of certainty.

I have started doing that. Court transcripts, many many news reports, etc., in order to piece together this clouded puzzle. Separate the fact from the fiction. The hyperbole from the truth. The medias attempts to increase their readership at the expense of a man ("He's a pedophile! Who cares what happens to him!") spending the rest of his life in prison.

To document what I have found would take a HUGE amount of work. I would have to carefully record the URLs of the sources. Excerpt statements. Explain contexts. In other words, to "document" what I assert.

You, on the other hand, simply made a claim, that took you maybe 20 seconds to type, without any documenting to back up what you said. That's so easy. But for me to refute you is a lot of hard work. Sure, I can do it. But - should I devote the next 3, 4, 5 hours or more of my life to demonstrate that what you assert, as "an old poster - In-the-know" is factually incorrect?

What purpose would that serve? Would I convince you? Probably not. Would others here reading my rebuttal believe me? They might begin to have doubts that what you said was true, but they would still have doubts.

So, it would not really serve much purpose. I value the next 3 to 5 hours of my life, and to devote it simply to demonstrate that you have asserted something that is NOT TRUE just isn't, in my opinion, worth the next 3 to 5 hours of my life.

You post as "an old poster - In-the-know". An old poster. Then by now, you probably have a registered nick. But you chose to make this post NOT USING your registered nick.

Why? Are you afraid of something? Do you think that others would criticize you were you to (as it turns out, incorrectly) make assertions about a man arrested and convicted and sent to prison for the rest of his life for "sex crimes"?

Perhaps you suspect (or even KNOW) that your assertions are untrue? And you don't want people to know (by posting under your real nick) that you assert things that are not true? Or, perhaps you are lazy, and having done almost no background research, wish to appear to be an "expert" and gain a feeling of "being in the know" - and share this (false) "being in the know" with others, for your own ego satisfaction?

Or, another possibility - you are not, in fact, "an old poster - In-the-know". You could be a LEO or an anti who wants to paint a black picture about a "pedophile monster" in order to sway the opinions of the other posters here.

This is a very real possibility.

So, here I am. Knee deep in difficult material that, upon careful analysis, demonstrates that you made assertions that are factually incorrect.

What should I do? Spend a bunch of my time proving you are wrong? Only for you to (possibly) come back at me with some snide remark, that takes you 5 seconds to type, followed by a "LOL"?

I don't know.

It is a difficult situation. Just typing this response has taken quite a bit of time (I'm not the best typist in the world, and I have to continually go back and make sure the grammar is always correct and consistent, etc. This alone has taken - I don't know - maybe 30 to 45 minutes.)

:-(

If you ARE an anti - good job! Refuting your false statements is A LOT of work.

But if you really are an "old poster" then you are being irresponsible. Making assertions without "checking the facts" is a serious mistake.

My fingers are starting to hurt. So I'm ending this post.

But things seem to me to still be up in the air, and I am not comfortable with that.

Life is fucked-up sometimes...

So, Mr. "an old poster - In-the-know", you have unnecessarily complicated my life. I hope you are happy...
