Deuteronomy 22:25 - But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die Be sure that your victim is not betrothed, for then death is required. Exodus 22:16-17 - "If a man ENTICES a virgin who is NOT BETROTHED (engaged), and lies with her, he shall surely PAY the bride-price for her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall PAY MONEY according to the bride-price of virgins. Even if the victim is not betrothed, her father can still refuse to give her to you - but you still must pay the bride-price. Your case of Jacob is not valid, because after the rape of Dinah Jacob consented that she should become the man's wife, but his sons went and killed not only Jacob's new son-in-law but also all of his son-in-law's kinsmen, who were innocent of the deed and whom Jacob had come to an agreement with. Thus, Jacob's sons both committed murder and defied their father, both of which were capital offenses. For more information, see: http://answering-islam.org/Shamoun/ot_and_rape.htm |
