Most therapists went into the profession because they really sought to help others. Most all realize that therapy given under duress (e.g. mandated by a court after a client has been busted) is less than optimally effective. They do not like the mandatory reporting laws which turn them into an arm of law enforcement, something probably most (including most of those who have attended B4U-ACT's workshops) would like to see changed. That being said, there certainly are others who share common prejudices and misconceptions and believe in using the coercive power of the state. So be careful! |
