...how does he understand what he is required to report to authorities and/or in what circumstances might confidentiality be breached. They all have different understandings, and some patients ahve ben reported just for revealing attractions. Many however are reasonable and will tell you what they are supposed to: that he is obligated to report you only if you reveal "child abuse" of an identifiable "victim." OTOH, one psychiatrist was found liable for not reporting his patient's fantasies months before the patient actually "molested" a boy.
