I think we're both making some assumptions about the nature of the relationship. The article's full of hysteria and provides little insight. I get what you're saying about the balance of power, so to speak. We could argue about the ethics and morality of this case (without being privy to the facts) and perhaps neither one of us should be making a blanket statement. It ends up being all very utopian and hypothetical, anyway. I can't see attitudes about the appropriateness of that kind of relationship (even where both are legal age) changing in our lifetime. we certainly agree about the futility of jail time and criminal records in such a circumstance, regardless of the details. Do you have any knowledge of jurisdictions where teacher/student relationships and such are tolerated? Just curious. |
