... server because some older software is written that accesses a file of that name, and so if the file does not exist, an error will be generated. Therefore, a one-pixel file was created to avoid the error-message, which was much easier than rewriting/debugging the other software. Being only one pixel, it will not be noticed on any page on which it is displayed.
