Hey, Étienne! Etenne. Autocorrect, haha. I always feel like im the only teen here. A lot of teens are in denial about this sort of thing, after all. It’s like there’s this period of acceptance, or ignorance, more so. A twelve year old might not have been exposed to the views of society on this matter, and willingly accept it as a part of themselves. A little after (when we get to middle school or high school), we start getting insecure and try to fit in with everyone. I hope that makes sense. I’m just word vomiting here. Anyway. Another part of it is that I think this generation is extremely anti this and pro that, so it’s hard to find people the same age who aren’t lying to themselves about something. It’s ironic that in an age of proud sexual acceptance (gay, lesbian, bi, trans, et cetera), people are just as close minded as they always have been. In the past, people were told homosexuals were bad, so that’s what they believed. Now people are told homosexuals aren’t bad, and it’s lead to this false idea that the general populace has become more welcoming. The reality is that people are the same; they’ve just been told different things to think. |
