You may have a point. If a rule-breaking post is just migrated to another forum, then the original offence remains. For example, if it is prohibited to suggest to someone that they kill themselves, then obviously such a message will still be read by the intended recipient on YCDTOBC, so what's the point of moving it? If a post constitutes a clear violation of the rules then why not delete it?

I rather think that there should just be a single forum. On the BoysOnYourScreen forum there was a convention that if someone wanted to raise an off-topic post then they simply put ‘O/T’ at the beginning of the subject line, so anyone not interested in off-topic posts could ignore it. (e.g. ‘O/T kittens are so cute!’) Rather than having a separate forum, OtherChat, it would be sufficient to have everything on the main forum and just invite contributors to use the ‘O/T’ convention for OtherChat type posts.

Multiple boards may have made sense when the quantity of posts was in danger of overwhelming the ability of readers to identify the ones of interest, but it seems those days are long gone.
